What exactly is the difference between Revolution and Revolution Plus for cats?
The distinction between Revolution and Revolution Plus for Cats is that Revolution for Cats only contains the active ingredient Selamectin, which is a parasiticide in the avermectin family whereas Revolution Plus contains Sarolaner an additional active ingredient for advanced protection against ticks. Sarolaner is a parasiticide that belongs to the isoxazoline family. Fleas, ticks, mites, and lice are all killed by Selamectin and Sarolaner. As a result, Revolution Plus provides dual-action protection against these parasites. These parasites have no chance of surviving. The Sarolaner provides Revolution Plus even more tick-killing power!
What can an additional ingredient in Revolution Plus provide protection for cats?
Revolution Plus protects your cat against everything that Revolution does, plus three types of ticks for a full month, including black-legged ticks (also known as deer ticks), American dog ticks, and Gulf Coast ticks, thanks to the addition of Sarolaner.
What do Revolution and Revolution Plus have in common for cats?
While Revolution Plus is an enhanced version of Revolution, it’s no surprise that both treatments are made by the same company, Zoetis. Both Revolution and Revolution Plus are effective flea killers, worm killers, and heartworm preventatives. They easily get rid of fleas and flea eggs and prevent future infestations, as well as protect cats from hookworms, roundworms, and heartworms for a month. Both can be used for cats and kittens aged 6 weeks and up, with the same mode of administration – topical (spot-on treatment applied to the cat’s skin).
As you can see, both Revolution and Revolution Plus have their own set of advantages. And, while Revolution Plus clearly outperforms Revolution, this does not imply that Revolution is a bad product. Revolution can be used in circumstances where you have a limited budget and/or your four-legged furry companion is suffering from fleas, mites, lice, and other parasites (except ticks). If your cat is infested with ticks, though, Revolution Plus is the sensible option.
Please note: There is currently a worldwide scarcity of Revolution for Dogs and Cats; nonetheless, you can opt for Stronghold which has the same active ingredient (Selamectin) as Revolution.
