How does Profender Cat Dewormer work?

Profender for Medium Cats is formulated with two anthelmintic active ingredients:

Emodepside: Targets the nervous system of intestinal worms such as roundworms and hookworms. It disrupts neuromuscular activity, causing paralysis and eventual death of the parasites.
Praziquantel: Works against tapeworms by damaging their outer surface, causing them to detach from the intestinal wall and be naturally eliminated from the cat’s body.

After topical application, the solution is absorbed through the skin and distributed within the body, allowing the active ingredients to act systemically to eliminate worms. Each tube of Profender (5.6-11 lbs) delivers 15 mg emodepside and 60 mg praziquantel for effective worm control.

What to know before using Profender?

Directions

Select the package that corresponds to your cat’s weight.
Remove one unit from the package.
Remove the cap from the tube while holding the tube upright.
Part your cat’s fur at the base of the neck until the skin is visible.
To ensure the entire dosage is administered on the cat’s skin, place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube to empty the contents onto the skin in one spot.
Do not apply on broken skin or wet hair.
Allow the treated area to dry for at least one hour.
Keep children away from the treated pet for at least 24 hours.
Treatment with Profender may be repeated every 30 days, or as directed by your veterinarian.

Profender (emodepside/praziquantel) can be used on cats and kittens that are at least 8 weeks of age and weigh at least 2.2 lbs. Cats over 17.6 lbs. should be treated with the appropriate combination of tubes. In this situation, talk to your veterinarian about the appropriate combination of tubes.
