An excellent allwormer for horses, Promectin Plus is formulated specifically to treat and control a wide range of internal parasites. The oral treatment is suitable for equines of all breeds and sizes. It is effective on tapeworms, large strongyles, small strongyles, pinworms, ascarids, hairworm, large-mouthed stomach worm, neck threadworm, bots, lungworm and intestinal threadworm. It also controls skin lesions caused by Habronema and Draschia spp., and cutaneous larvae and microfilariae of Onchocerca spp.

How does it work?

Promectin Plus is composed of Praziquantel and Abamectin as its active ingredients. Abamectin acts by binding selectively to glutamate-gated chloride channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, which leads to paralysis and death of the parasites. The constituent works well against both mature and immature stages of the nematodes. Praziquantel, on the other hand, is highly effective against all species of tapeworms, is absorbed readily and rapidly by cestodes (tapeworms). It first leads to rapid contraction of the muscles of the tapeworms and then a rise in the cell membrane calcium permeability, which subsequently leads to muscle paralysis.
