Credelio for Small Cats is a monthly oral flea and tick treatment designed for small cats and kittens. Available as a small, tasty tablet with vanilla yeast flavoring, Credelio makes parasite protection convenient and easy to administer.
Given orally, it offers effective flea and tick control without the mess associated with topical treatments. Choose Credelio Purple for Small Cats (2-4 lbs) to help protect your feline companion from troublesome external parasites and support their overall wellbeing.
Credelio is indicated for:
- Treatment and prevention of flea infestations in cats and kittens 8 weeks of age and older, weighing at least 2 lbs.
- Treatment and control of black-legged tick infestations in cats and kittens 6 months of age and older, weighing at least 2 lbs.
How does Credelio work?
Credelio is formulated with lotilaner as its active ingredient. Lotilaner belongs to the isoxazoline class of ectoparasiticides that target the nervous system of fleas and ticks.
After administration, lotilaner is absorbed into the cat’s bloodstream. When fleas and ticks feed on the treated cat, they ingest the active ingredient. Lotilaner interferes with gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-gated chloride channels in parasites, causing uncontrolled neuromuscular activity that ultimately leads to their death.
How fast does Credelio work?
Credelio starts killing fleas within 6 hours of administration. It has demonstrated 98% effectiveness against fleas within 12 hours and over 97% effectiveness against ticks within 72 hours after treatment. With monthly administration, Credelio provides continuous protection against fleas and ticks for up to one month.
