How does Advantage for Dogs work?
Advantage contains imidacloprid as its active ingredient.
After application, the solution spreads across the skin and coat of the dog. Imidacloprid starts killing fleas rapidly upon contact and eliminates reinfesting fleas before they can continue the flea life cycle.
Because fleas do not need to bite the dog to receive a lethal dose, Advantage helps reduce irritation caused by flea bites and may assist in reducing flea allergy dermatitis associated with flea feeding.
How fast does Advantage work?
Advantage starts working quickly after application. It has been shown to kill adult fleas within 20 minutes of contact by absorption via the flea intersegmental membranes. Furthermore, it stops fleas from feeding in only 3-5 minutes and may help reduce the incidence of hypersensitivity skin disorder known as flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).
