NexGard Chew for Small Dogs is a vet-recommended oral flea and tick treatment for small dogs and puppies 8 weeks and older, weighing between 4-10 lbs.

It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations. It also treats and controls various types of tick infestations caused by black-legged ticks, American dog ticks, Lone Star ticks, brown dog ticks, and longhorned ticks. Additionally, NexGard flea and tick treatment is indicated for the prevention of Borrelia burgdorferi infections that cause Lyme disease as a result of direct killing of black-legged vector ticks.

Available as a soft, tasty beef-flavored chew that dogs love, NexGard offers proven protection against flea and tick infestations for one month. The oral administration makes flea and tick prevention easy for you and your dog. Just give your dog one chew monthly as a treat, and they have the protection they deserve!

How fast does NexGard Orange work?

NexGard Orange works quickly after administration, killing fleas before they can lay eggs. It starts killing fleas within only four hours and has been shown to kill 99% of fleas on the dog within 8 hours of administration. In laboratory studies, NexGard demonstrated >90% effectiveness against certain tick species 48 hours after infestation.

How does NexGard work?

NexGard (4-10 lbs) is formulated with afoxolaner as its key ingredient. When a NexGard chew is given orally, the afoxolaner gets absorbed in the bloodstream of the dog. When fleas or ticks bite the treated dog, they ingest afoxolaner. Afoxolaner interferes with the nervous system of insects, causing hyperexcitation and ultimately leading to their death.

Each NexGard Chewable Orange for Small Dogs contains a dosage of 11.3 mg of afoxolaner.

What to know before using NexGard?

The safe use of NexGard for Dogs in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs has not been evaluated.
NexGard contains afoxolaner, a member of the isoxazoline class that has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions, including tremors, ataxia, and seizures.
Seizures have also been reported in dogs receiving isoxazoline class drugs, even in dogs without a history of seizures. Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurological disorders.
