How does NexGard Spectra for Dogs work?

NexGard Spectra contains two key ingredients:

I see very different prices for Nexgard Plus (U.S.) and Nexgard Spectra (this site), but both claim to tackle fleas, ticks, heartworm. What is the difference?

Nexgard Spectra contains afoxolaner & milbemycin oxime and protects against fleas, ticks, mites, intestinal worms and preventing heartworm disease, lungworm and eyeworm infections.
